Tips for trip leader and local guides
1
Part 1/5
El Arenal: We start at 2,200 masl and this is one of the steepest  parts of this hike. It is very important that you do this part slowly and with consistency to keep your energy for the rest of the hike. The path has arid terrain and open skies, sunblock is another must for a great start.
2
Part 2/5
Humid Forest: The great Canac, one of the oldest trees in Acatenango, marks the start of the humid forest which last for about 1 hour to 90 minutes in this hike. You will experience how the weather gets cooler as the forest becomes more dense. The trail we will follow is moderately steep with flat sections.
3
Part 3/5
Lunch spot: Once we passed the humid forest and continued for another hour or 90 minutes we will arrive to our lunch spot for a well-deserved rest and meal. Our guides will provide you with a customized lunch as coordinated with you in advance.
4
Part 4/5
Summit: This is the steepest and most difficult part of this hike. Although is relatively short in distance due to its difficulty it will take us between 1 to 2 hours. Here you must follow the instructions very closely as given by your guide. Pace and breathe steadily to reach the 3,976 masl in your best way possible. Once up, pause, look around and enjoy this breathtaking view of some of the most emblematic volcanoes in Guatemala.
5
Part 5/5
Return: Set your mind for a steady, no rush and in good form hike down to protect your knees. Once at the bottom we will drive back to Antigua with an expected arrival time of 7:00pm-8:00pm.
